Family Involvement
Santa Rosa Ranch School encourages families to support the growth and development of our Tohono O’odham Nation. Our students benefit from an educational program supported by dedicated faculty, staff, specialists and community members. We believe the collaboration among all stakeholders, including families, leads to impactful learning strategies. This partnership is essential throughout the learning process and consistently yields academic achievement and progress.
Lifelong learning habits begin in the home with the family’s active participation in the student’s growth and development. Parents and/or guardians are a student’s first teachers, and they should remain involved in the student’s education long after the student starts classroom learning.
Why Family Involvement Matters
Research shows that students perform better when parents and guardians engage in their child’s education. Here are some ways families can contribute:
- Be a Teacher at Home: Help with homework, encourage reading and engage in discussions about school topics.
- Volunteer: Share your skills with the school by assisting in the classroom, organizing events or providing mentorship.
- Advocate: Ensure your child’s needs are met and advocate for their fair treatment at school.
How We Communicate
We value open and honest communication between families and the school. Here are some of the ways we keep families informed:
- Monthly PAC Meetings: We host meetings where all parents can participate in discussions about school plans and initiatives.
- Regular Updates: We provide newsletters and progress reports to inform families about student progress and school events.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences: We schedule opportunities for parents to meet with teachers to discuss student progress and ways to support their learning.
Opportunities for Family Engagement
We offer various opportunities for families to engage with the school community:
- Workshops: Attend sessions that provide resources to help your child succeed academically and socially.
- Feedback Opportunities: Participate in surveys and evaluations to help us improve our family involvement strategies.
- Special Events: Participate in Parents Nights, Math Nights, Science Fairs and more throughout the school year.
Community Involvement
Students are supported and prepared to become future leaders in our community through academic, athletic and cultural programs. We invite families and community members in the Tohono O’odham Nation to contribute their knowledge and support to Santa Rosa Ranch School’s holistic curriculum. Our students will continue reaching their greatest potential through ongoing family and community involvement.
